Biography:
Jiaxin Yan is a PhD candidate in Comparative Literature and Asian Studies, with a minor in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. She is interested in late-20th- and 21st- century East Asian literary and cultural production through feminist and archipelagic/oceanic lens. Her dissertation explores Taiwanese, Okinawan, and Zainichi Korean artists’ reflections on sites across the northwestern Pacific Ocean that have often been folded into the shadows of multiple empires.
