Biography:
Oh Mee Lee is a scholar of premodern Asian visual and textual history focusing on objects, materials, and texts utilized to produce and transmit knowledge. Her research contrasts a ninth-century textual account of Han to Tang dynasty Chinese calligraphy with understanding of material processes and objects from earlier periods now present in regional academic institutions. Dr. Lee’s teaching showcases these records and individual objects, their use, and present histories to engage students in hands-on visual/textual analysis, critical thinking, and original research.
