International Agreement Signed

On Nov. 1, 2021 at 8:00 am, Penn State Asian Studies participated in a Virtual Signing Ceremony to sign an MOU and renew the institutional partnership between Penn State and the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). President Barron and President Cheng-Chih Wu (NTNU), along with 2 state representatives from the PA Senate and House of Representatives and a representative from the Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in NYC, also participated. Erica Brindley, Asian Studies Department Head, introduced the representatives from Penn State (Pres. Barron, Penn State Global, and Asian Studies) and signed a collaboration agreement for the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program – a Mandarin Training Program involving Penn State Asian Studies, which kick-started the renewal of a long-standing institutional partnership, first established in the 1950’s. In attendance from Asian Studies was Erica Brindley (Head), Dr. Yupeng Kou (Chinese Language Coordinator), and two PSU Visiting Scholars from the NTNU, Hung I-chiao and Duan Wen-jiao.
